Chelsea Football Club, competing in the English Premier League, announced today the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo, a center-back from Fulham, on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old player will join Chelsea on a four-year contract starting from July 1st. Adarabioyo has played one match for the England under-19 national team and participated in 78 matches in the Premier League.
Adarabioyo is the first player to join Chelsea since the announcement of the appointment of the new coach, Enzo Maresca, earlier this week. He will strengthen the team's options in central defense after the departure of veteran Thiago Silva.
Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, the club's sporting directors, said, "We are very happy to sign Tosin. Throughout his career, he has shown maturity and defensive abilities, and has gained a lot of experience in the Premier League in recent seasons."
They added, "He is ready to move to Chelsea and play alongside the talented players in our team. We look forward to Tosin joining us in preparation for the new season."
Chelsea is looking forward to reviving its fortunes under Maresca's leadership after finishing last season in sixth place.
Adarabioyo said, "I am looking forward to starting working with Enzo, and I am sure the players are too. It will be exciting. We will perform well and win many matches. This team has a number of great players, and I am excited to play with all of them."
