Emirati newspaper Al-Ittihad has revealed that Emirates Club is exploring the possibility of appointing Andres Iniesta, the team's star player, as their new manager.

Iniesta's first season at the Ras Al Khaimah-based club ended in disappointment, as the Falcons were relegated from the UAE Pro League after finishing 13th, second to last.

Most rumors and reports suggest that the 40-year-old will remain at Emirates Club.

Many sources speculate that the 131-cap Spanish international will transition from a player to a managerial role at the club.

However, Emirates Club prefers to replicate the experience of Qatari club Al Sadd with Xavi Hernandez, Iniesta's former teammate at Barcelona.

Hernandez retired as a player at Al Sadd in May 2019 and immediately took over as the team's manager.

The midfield legend achieved great success as Al Sadd's coach, winning the Qatar Stars League, Emir of Qatar Cup, Qatar Cup, Sheikh Jassim Cup, and Qatar Stars Cup.
