Alvarez Cites Limited Manchester City Appearances to Justify Olympic Participation

Julian Alvarez seeks permission from Pep Guardiola to join Argentina's Olympic squad, citing lack of playing time at Manchester City.

Julian Alvarez, the Manchester City striker, is trying to convince his manager, Pep Guardiola, to allow him to join the Argentinian national team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Alvarez is likely to be included in the Argentina senior squad for the 2024 Copa America.

However, the 24-year-old is also seeking to be one of the three over-23 players in the Tango Olympic squad for the Games.

Gaston Edul, an Argentinian journalist, claimed that Alvarez spoke privately with Guardiola and requested permission to play in the Olympics.

According to Edul, the number 19 shirt wearer cited his limited appearances with Manchester City, which further strengthens his personal desire to participate in the global event.

It is not yet clear whether the Spanish coach is inclined to give Alvarez the green light to join the Argentinian Olympic team or is leaning towards refusal.
