Napoli, the 2023 Italian Serie A champions who faced significant struggles last season, announced on Wednesday the appointment of Antonio Conte as their new coach on a contract until June 2027.

The club stated in a press release, "Napoli welcomes Antonio Conte, who will take charge of the first team after signing a contract with the club until June 30, 2027."

President Aurelio De Laurentiis commented in the statement, "I am extremely proud that Napoli's new coach is Antonio Conte. Antonio is a high-level coach, a leader, and with him, I am confident that the necessary rebuilding will begin after the period that culminated in our league title win last year, following several seasons at the top of Italian football."

He added, "Today marks the beginning of a new and important chapter in Napoli's history."

Conte, 54, who has coached Juventus (2011-14), the Italian national team (2014-16), Chelsea (2016-18), and Inter Milan (2019-21), had been without a job since his departure from Tottenham in March 2023. He becomes Napoli's fifth coach in the past 12 months.

Luciano Spalletti, the current national team coach, left the club after winning the league title, followed by three other coaches: Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri, and Francesco Calzona.

According to the Italian press, Conte has signed a contract with an estimated annual salary of around eight million euros.

Napoli finished last season 41 points behind defending champions Inter Milan.
