Manchester City to Clash with Chelsea in Premier League Opener

Reigning champions Manchester City will face Chelsea in an away match to kick off the 2024-2025 Premier League season.


Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions for four consecutive seasons, will begin their title defense against Chelsea in an away match on August 18th, according to the schedule released on Tuesday.

City, led by Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, will face his former assistant Enzo Maresca, who has been promoted with Leicester City from the Championship, at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United, the FA Cup winners, will host Fulham at Old Trafford in the opening round.

Arsenal, who finished as runners-up for the second consecutive season, will play their first match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Liverpool, who finished third and have appointed Dutchman Arne Slot as their new manager, will visit newly promoted Ipswich Town.

Leicester City, returning to the Premier League after a one-season absence, will have their first match at home against Tottenham on August 19th.

Brighton, under the leadership of the youngest manager in the Premier League, 31-year-old German Fabian Hurzeler, will face Everton away, while West Ham, led by their new Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui, will host Aston Villa.
