Mbappe: It's a great joy... A dream come true

Kylian Mbappe expresses his joy and relief over his dream move to Real Madrid, while emphasizing his focus on leading France in Euro 2024.

Kylian Mbappe has officially confirmed his highly anticipated move to Real Madrid on a five-year contract. The French captain expressed his joy and excitement about fulfilling his lifelong dream of playing for the Spanish giants. However, he emphasized his immediate focus on leading the French national team in their quest for Euro 2024 glory.

"It's a great day for me, but I have responsibilities as the captain of France, and this situation has overshadowed the national team," Mbappe said in a press conference. "I want to protect my team. It's been a long time since we won the Euros, 24 years is a very long time."

Mbappe had a tumultuous start to the season, being excluded from the Paris Saint-Germain squad after refusing to sign a new contract. However, he finished the season with a career-high 44 goals, leading the team to a domestic double.

Despite his achievements with PSG, Mbappe expressed his desire for a more fulfilling season next year, citing his high standards and ambitions. He also acknowledged the challenges he faced during the past season, describing it as his toughest yet most rewarding.

Mbappe is now preparing for his fourth major tournament with the French national team. Having won the World Cup in 2018 and reached the final in 2022, he aims to lead France to victory in Euro 2024 and erase the disappointment of their early exit in the 2020 edition.

France will face Luxembourg and Canada in friendly matches before heading to Germany for the Euro 2024 tournament, where they are placed in Group D alongside the Netherlands, Austria, and Poland.
