Mbappé Nose Injury Not Minor

France coach Didier Deschamps confirms Kylian Mbappé nose injury is not minor after clash with Austrian defender during Euro 2024 match.

Didier Deschamps, coach of the French national team, revealed the severity of the injury sustained by star player Kylian Mbappé during their match against Austria. Mbappé's face collided with the shoulder of Austrian defender Kevin Danso, resulting in heavy bleeding from his nose.

The number 10 was forced to leave the pitch as a substitute before the end of the first round of the Euro 2024 group stage, which ended with a 1-0 victory for France.

Deschamps admitted, "He (Mbappé) is not doing well. I saw him on the physiotherapy table, and he didn't come out with a minor injury. His nose took a bad hit."

When asked if Mbappé suffered a broken nose, the former midfielder replied, "Apparently, yes. His nose is not good at all."

Deschamps did not share any further details about the condition of the Paris-born star or whether he would miss the upcoming match against the Netherlands.

In statements translated by The Guardian, he said, "The medical staff is taking care of him, and I don't have any evidence at hand. They are examining him at the moment."

The 50-year-old coach continued, "He is with the medical staff, and I can't tell you anything else. You know me, when I don't have the facts, I remain silent."

Deschamps expressed his frustration with the injury, noting that it "came at a really unlucky time."
