Messi Fears End of Career, Confirms Inter Miami as Final Club

Lionel Messi reveals his fear of retirement and confirms that Inter Miami will be the last club he plays for in his career.

Argentine football star Lionel Messi has revealed that he expects his current team, Inter Miami, to be the last club he plays for in his career.

"Yes, today, I think it (Inter Miami) will be my last club," the World Cup champion said in an interview with ESPN.

Messi, who will celebrate his 37th birthday on June 24th, will lead his national team in defending their Copa America title in the United States from June 20th to July 14th.

"I'm not ready to leave football, it's all I've ever done," said the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. "I love playing football, I love training every day, match days... I'm scared that everything will stop."

He continued, "I'm trying to enjoy it as much as possible now because I know the end is near. I'm so lucky to have my teammates and friends by my side. I've had a great time with the national team, where I also have teammates and friends."

Regarding his American experience after joining Inter Miami in the summer of 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain, Messi said, "It was very difficult to leave Europe and come here, but being crowned world champion with my national team helped me see things differently."
