UEFA President Alexander Ceferin has heaped praise on Spain's rising star Lamine Yamal, suggesting that the 16-year-old Barcelona winger could soon become the "best player ever". During a visit to the Slovenian national team's Euro 2024 camp in Germany, Ceferin expressed his admiration for Yamal, stating, "If I owned a club, Yamal would be the first player I'd buy if I had enough money."

Yamal made his Euro debut in Spain's 3-0 victory over Croatia, becoming the youngest player in history to participate in the tournament at 16 years and 338 days old. He also provided an assist during the match, and if he scores in Euro 2024, he will surpass Switzerland's Johan Vonlanthen as the youngest goalscorer in Euro history.

Ceferin also commended the Spanish national team under coach Luis de la Fuente, stating, "Spain is a very good team, I have already said that I consider them one of the candidates for the Euro title."
